New Years Eve. Happy 2012!

 This is Kate! Kate and I met in Polokwane in my yoga classes and she is on a country wide tour in the USA. She was with us for a few days and we rang in the new year together. It was really fun to catch up with her and and of course I loved showing her around Encinitas- especially considering she is the only other person besides Gregg who understands the insane difference between Encinitas and Polokwane!!

 Happy NEW YEAR!!!

 About 10 minutes before the clock struck midnight we scaled the Del Mar cliffs to get down to the beach. We did our own official countdown and ran knee deep into the ocean as we celebrated the first few minutes of 2012. It's going to be a big year!! I have lists of intentions and ideas and look forward to a very special year ahead.

 Merry Christmas from the Potters! We had a very quiet Christmas this year as Gregg had to work Christmas Eve. He got home around noon on Christmas day and we cooked a totally delicious meal together. All in all it was a great day finished off with the... wait for it.... FARMING GAME!

 A few days after Christmas we headed up to Newport, CA to see the McGinly family. Drew and Elizabeth now have 3 adorable little girls- Anne, Bridget and Mary Claire.

Quality time with DJ and Mo

 

 One of the highlights of our trip was to finish off a whirlwind tour with 3 days of quality time with DJ and Moira. We spent time at the house (Gregg's childhood home) and then spent two days in the Drakensburg. The Drakensburg is the largest mountain range in Southern Africa and is our pretty background in the picture above.

We spent the night at a a family friend's game farm at the base of the Drakensburg. Gregg and I actually visited this game farm twice during our tour. On our first trip, we saw this Eland and he actually jumped this fence right after I took the photo. It was quite the sight to see!!

Got to love an African sunset. Gregg and I (well actually I) got the bright idea to take a 4-wheeler on a game drive. About 3 minutes into our game drive we ran out of gas so we spent the rest of our 'sun downer' pushing it back to camp. Classic.

So while we were at the visitors center in the Drankensburg I saw this photo on the wall. Seriously!!! I didn't know Bill Becker went fishing in South Africa in the 70's. :)

From Giant's camp we hiked into the mountains to check out some historic Bushmen paintings. It was a perfect hike with DJ and Moi.
